Mentorship : The Foundation of Elevating Tomorrow's Future
There was an old saying that says “ Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime “. Therefore, mentorship plays an important role in the lives of others, creating an eternal cycle of virtue.

The passion and ambition of the younger generation is the path to future innovation. On September 7, 2024, mark the launch of Link! A competitive esports community platform, from gamers to gamers. One of my mentees named Danu Artha pitched this idea to me, initially I wasn't too interested in the idea because I'm not an expert in esports, but seeing his passion and enthusiasm made me want to help him. Remembering my past when I had brilliant ideas but no one who would guide me in executing those ideas, I offered my help by becoming an advisor with 50% management and 50% direct hands on. I only helped this project in the launching phase so I began to write some plans and handbooks for my mentee.
The project was a success and we collaborated with Pongo, RevivalTV, and Point Arena. There was an old saying that says “ Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime “. So I taught and shared the fundamentals of project management, stakeholder management, sales, and strategic partnership to my mentee.
Utilizing my help, Danu successfully synergized with me to deliver optimal results for this project. Creating a live streaming podcast event attended by 1200+ viewers and an offline tournament attended by 40 players. That's the prologue to Link! We were very happy with it. After the event it's time for me to go and just see him keep pushing the boundaries until Link! Is well known.
For me personally, this is also a lesson on mentorship, here are the reasons why I think mentorship is very important for both mentors and mentees.
Mentorship is one of the foundation of growth and development. I also can't be who i am today if not for my mentors. i remembered the day i was guided it accelerates my learning giving me a leverage shortening the gap between me and my goal. So this is one of many perks of mentorship between mentee and mentor :
1. Fostering Growth and Development
For the Mentee: Mentoring provides guidance, knowledge, and support that accelerates learning, helping the mentee grow personally and professionally. Mentors offer advice based on their own experiences, which can help the mentee avoid common mistakes.
For the Mentor: Teaching or guiding others helps the mentor refine their own skills, think critically, and stay sharp in their area of expertise.
2. Giving Back and Creating Impact
Mentoring is a way of giving back and making a difference in someone’s life. By sharing knowledge and experiences, mentors help shape the next generation of leaders, fostering a positive impact on the industry or community.
It builds a legacy of helping others succeed and creates a ripple effect that extends beyond one person.
3. Enhancing Leadership and Communication Skills
Mentoring sharpens leadership and communication skills. Teaching complex ideas to someone else requires clarity and patience, which improves the mentor’s ability to lead, communicate, and inspire.
It also improves emotional intelligence, as mentors need to understand and relate to the challenges their mentees face.
4. Building Relationships and Expanding Networks
Mentoring creates meaningful relationships. Mentors and mentees often build long-lasting, mutually beneficial connections. This network can expand opportunities for both parties, opening doors to collaboration, partnerships, and professional growth.
Mentees often introduce mentors to fresh ideas and perspectives, which can keep the mentor engaged and inspired.
5. Promoting Personal Fulfillment and Satisfaction
There is a deep sense of personal fulfillment that comes from helping someone else achieve their goals. Knowing that you’ve played a role in someone’s success can be incredibly rewarding.
Mentoring also reinforces a sense of purpose and contributes to mental well-being, as acts of giving and helping others are known to boost happiness and satisfaction.
6. Driving Innovation and Knowledge Transfer
Sharing insights with the next generation helps drive innovation, as mentees often bring new perspectives and creativity. Mentors can encourage these ideas and help shape them into actionable plans.
Mentoring ensures that knowledge, skills, and best practices are passed on, preserving valuable expertise within industries and organizations.
7. Creating a Positive and Inclusive Culture
Mentorship helps to create a more inclusive and supportive environment in organizations or communities by nurturing talent and promoting equal opportunities for growth.
It helps reduce isolation for those starting out in their careers and creates a culture of continuous learning.
Mentoring others is beneficial not only for the mentee but also for the mentor and society as a whole. Therefore, guidance plays an important role in the lives of others, creating an eternal cycle of virtue. Improving the future of the world.
